Long Rods

The long rod is the most common type of stabiliser. It points out from the front of the bow, moving its centre of gravity forward. This reduces the sideways twisting of the bow hand and steadies it for aiming and makes the bow dip forward upon release, rather than kicking up. They’re also useful for resting your bow on between shots.

Long rods come in a range of lengths and shapes, most are cylindrical but some such as the Fuse Blade and SF Elite are aerodynamically shaped especially for shooting in windy conditions. Long rods also often have additional weights and vibration dampeners on the end, which can sometimes be customised.
