Feather Fletchings

The use of feather fletchings is mostly associated with traditional archery, but any bow discipline can use them. Feather fletchings are mainly bought in two shapes: parabolic and shield, though full length feathers are available for cutting into custom shapes.

Feather fletchings are either left wing or right wing, denoting the side of the bird that the feather came from. Feathers have a slight natural twist in them, which makes the arrow spin in flight. Left and right wing fletchings spin in different directions, so all the fletchings in a set of arrows must be from the same side of the bird, otherwise arrow grouping would be affected. A right handed archer does not need right wing feather fletchings, just a set that match each other. All our feathers are right wing unless otherwise stated.
